In the wild, animals are far more aware of natural remedies and pain relieving agents than humans. All one has to do is watch a domestic cat or dog that feels some sort of gastric or digestion discomfort. They will go into the yard and eat some grass and a short time later will disgorge whatever was the cause of that discomfort. This is not to say that we should eat grass instead of off the shelf remedies when we have indigestion, but it does indicate that animals have an instinctive knowledge of natural remedies.

Pain experienced by our domestic pets is more difficult to handle as special plants, roots and tree bark are not readily available in our concrete jungle for them to use. Chihuahuas are fragile little dogs andwhen they are in pain, they tremble, drool and very often vomit. Val and Rita Gameiro's little Chihuahua was in that position and was obviously suffering great discomfort from a painful leg.
